Kevin Thompson, (January) “A mountain of a voice, with resonance from the Escorial of Philip II, the throne of Boris Godunov, and the majestic court of Sarastro. Thompson delivered all the goods.” (San Francisco Classical Voice). Mr. Thompson created the role of Aboul Hassan season with the U.S. premiere of Ali Baba by Botessini by Opera Southwest. He returned to New Orleans Opera where he reprised the role of Thibaut in The Maid of Orleans by Tchaikovsky and debuted with Opera San Jose as Sarastro in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte and Miami Classical Music Festival as Fafner in Wagner’s Das Rheingold. Other recent performances include King Soliman in La Reine de Saba by Gounod, New Orleans Opera as Sparafucile in Rigoletto and as Sechs Richter at the Bard Music Festival in Korngold’s Das Wunder der Heliane
