Sarah Heltzel (Caroline Herschel) “sets the stage ablaze with her vocal and dramatic pyrotechnics” (Houston Chronicle). A frequent performer of new works, this season she created the role of Olga in Ricky Ian Gordon’s The Garden of the Finzi-Continis (New York City Opera) and is Death in Tom Cipullo’s The Parting (Chelsea Opera). She has performed roles with Seattle Opera, Australian Contemporary Opera, Indianapolis, Syracuse, Tacoma, Nevada, Amarillo, Toledo and Wichita Operas, Opera on the James and Opera in the Heights. Roles include Carmen, Eboli, Maddalena, Santuzza, Komponist, Suzuki, Jo in Little Women, Siegrune in Die Walküre, and Offred in The Handmaid’s Tale.
